I have been told I may have breast cancer

Can an ultrasound give a definitive diagnosis of breast cancer? I was told a week ago that my lump looks like breast cancer but they'll know more when the biopsy results are back. Is there a chance I don't have cancer or is it just that they don't know what type of breast cancer?  I can't sleep and my mind is working overtime as I'm scared

  • It goes so fast after initial diagnosis...I was diagnosed 10th feb with initial high grade DCIS....they found lots of specks in lower boob from mri and biopsies and couldnt tell me what it was until they went in. Saw the scans and just looked like hundreds of twinkly stars.

So in 12 weeks I've gone from diagnosis to be given the all clear this was with a delay..they lost my covid test night before first surgery was planned x

I cannot shout out from the rooftops what brilliant care I've had and how supported I've felt throughout..in these times on your own is scary x

    Good luck with your journey

  • Hiya

well my biopsy was inconclusive so I had to have two more and wait another week.  I have now been told I have invasive ducal cancer , grade one only which is good. I have to have a lumpectomy and a week of radiotherapy unless results from op show lymph nodes are effected or I have  HER in which case there can be more surgery or chemo or both. Feeling very positive about things. Worse bit is total isolation for two weeks before op and two weeks after. Still am so thankful and feel lucky it's not worse. Thanks so much for support xxxx

  • Hi Macadam,

At least now you know what you are dealing with sort of...and you have a rough plan in place..and it goes so quick from here on out.

Keep up those positive vibes x
