Dimpling in breast - non cancer causes

Hi,

A few days ago I found a dimple under my left breast. I contacted my GP and had a telephone consultation (due to covid) and she referred me to the breast clinic, without seeing the dimple.

Other than that, I have no other symptoms. I have 2 fibroadenomas which I had assessed 3 years ago.
I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and it not turn out to be cancer? With my fibroadenomas, I felt more reassured because if you google 'breast lump', it lists many possible causes. But with dimpling of the breast, there's literally one non-cancerous cause.

I feel so anxious about everything: I'm 20 years old and have finally got my life on track. I really don't know what I'll do if it turns out to be anything sinister.

Thank you for reading, I'd appreciate any advice!

  • Hi Lauren99,

I can understand you'd be anxious in these times so I'd suggest the resources available on Anxiety UK, which could be really useful. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better and the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor. Hope you get an appointment date soon.

    Best wishes,
