Clinic appointment wait and scared

Hi. Saw GP on Monday with void in breast. Had it for a few weeks but couldn't find anything online about it. Wish I'd contacted GP earlier as she also felt a lump. My appointment isn't until 29th June. Can't sleep, feel sick all the time, keep crying. Thinking that it's definitely cancer and that it's spread. Going out of my mind. It's the not knowing. Just lost a cousin who didn't survive liver cancer diagnosis by 3 weeks. It's helped to get this off my chest but wish I could be seen sooner. Thanks for support.

  • Hello CD58

I'm sorry to hear that you've been referred to breast clinic. It's often an incredibly worrying time for people and with you sadly having lost your cousing recently it's understandable that you're feeling very anxious. Try and remember that the majority of people referred to breast clinic aren't diagnosed with breast cancer.

If you think you'd find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses before your appointment then do give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on at clinic.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your support. Feeling a little better now and have worked through some of my initial anxiety. Actually had some sleep and don't feel so sick. Will let you know how it goes.

  • Just back from hospital. All good. Mammogram and ultrasound clear. I can breathe again. Thank you for your support. X
