Advice on testicles?

Hello there,

I am hoping to get some advice or information from any one who has had experience of getting checked for issues surrounding the left testicle.

My partner and I have been together for several months and he has complained of discomfort (he assures me no pain) in the left testicle region. He has experienced this for many, many years and in short, was worried to go to the doctors about it. With some coersion from me, he has gone and is due to see a Urology specialist in the next week or so.

He complains of discomfort comparing it to a dull ache. Sometimes his testicle 'hangs' and is loose and other times it is more firm. It is only the left one giving him any grief and on occasion it can look different to the other one. I could compare it to a golf ball I guess with indentations.

My question is, does anyone know what to expect? I know without a proper consultation no one can tell me anything specific, but it would be great to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar?

Thanks in advance!

  • Testicular cancer is very treatable, it has one of the highest cure rates out of all types of cancer. Even if it has spread it's still usually cured. I know someone who'd had it for years to the point where it had spread to their brain and they were still completely cured of it.

So try not to worry too much about it. Even if your partner gets bad news the chances are still overwhlemingly in his favour that he'll beat it.

  • Hi fbg,

Thank you so much for your response. That's really good to hear.

It's tough when you're a self diagnoser who scans Google for all the answers to everything in order but you've offered me some peace of mind.
