Cervical cancer

Hi everyone,

so back in January I had a colposcopy and the results came back as grade 1 precancerous. I actually had this colposcopy pregnant and wasn't aware so since having the results I haven't been able to have any treatment but my doctor reassured me that it was so low grade they might go or take a long time to progress if they were to progress.

I recently had a cervical exam as I lost my plug so they checked to see if I was dilating and the doctor notified me I had a nodule/lump on my cervix and asked if I had  a smear recently to which I told her my results.
she said she has noted what she saw in my pregnancy notes and she seemed quite concerned. I'm only 24.

whats the likelihood of this being a cancerous lump in such a short space of time? I'm still only 26 weeks pregnant so have quite a long time left until I can have any treatment and I'm panicking!

  • Hi KayO,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be unsettling, although try not to worry too much - it may be helpful to read about the grading on the Jo's Trust website here. This says similar to what it sounds like your doctor may have already said. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor more about this if you can, so you can get further information and an idea of any next steps.

It may also be helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses as they will be able to offer further support and hopefully answer any questions. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5. Alternatively, you can also post in the 'Ask the nurses' section of this forum if you would prefer, and a nurse will get back to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
