Hello,
I'm 20 years old and I'm a reasonably healthy female. I do three 5k runs a week and have no history of cancer in the family.
Despite this and the statistics being in my favour, I'm extremely anxious about a referral I have for Monday for a breast screening. I've never had anything like this before and have absolutely no idea what to expect.
I have always had really naturally lumpy breasts (not just on my period) and I have tenderness and lumps in both, however there's one bigger lump in my right breast. It feels firm but also like it could move around a bit, however I get that non-cancerous and cancerous lumps can feel like that.
I've currently got a bruise over the lump because I've been prodding it that much, it is painful but I can't stop examining it because I keep wanting to reassure myself that it does feel similar to the ones on the other breast.
I just wanted to know what happens when you go for the appointment, how long it'll be and how long you have to wait until you get results really as I have no idea what to expect.
thank you! X
