Hi,
My 5 yr old daughter is having a tonsillectomy next week. Im worried as NHS are doing the operation quite quickly considering everything thats going on too. Im happy they are but Im just a bit worried as to why.
As soon as lockdown was announced I noticed my daughters tonsil was quite large. Prior to this she has been coming home from school weekly with a husky voice and sore throats but since being home she seems much better besides the large tonsil. I managed to speak to a GP who asked me to wait 6 weeks before they investigated further. I could only wait 3 and then called back asking for an ENT referral. I got one within a few weeks and they took my daughters bloods the same day and now she has a tonsillectomy booked for next week. He did say, he didn't think it was cancerous but really is there anyway of him knowing? Some days she feels like something is stuck in her throat, other days shes completely fine. Her breath can get a bit smelly.
Has anyone been through anything similar and it has turned out to be chronic inflammation of the tonsil and not cancer? I know its a common op but Im feeling quite anxious about it all.
