Breast clinic referral 25th

I'm 20 and had a baby 7 months ago. Since lockdown my breasts have been a bit tender and my nipples have been tingling. I also noticed a couple weeks ago that my nipples are slightly wonky. Not sure if this has happened suddenly or overtime because I was never too health conscious before the Coronavirus. 2 days ago my armpit started having sharp pains. I described this all to a doctor over the phone and she's referred me to the breast clinic and an hour later they sent me a date which is in 2 weeks. Just going out of my mind with worry because it can't be hormonal as it's been 3 months almost and I don't breastfeed. Has anyone had the same symptoms but it turned out to be fine? I've felt around for lumps and thick tissue and I don't really know what I'm looking for since I've never really checked my breast much before now. The colour or shape haven't changed or any physical abnormalities and breast cancer doesn't run in my family. Thank you

  • Hi there ...

Firstly please remember 8.5 out of ten lumps are benign... and the percentage goes well in your favour, because of your age .. it is really improbable though not impossible... my boobs after birth for months after took time to settle , and I never breast fed either ... as I always had lumpy boobs any way .

I was called back 5 times from mamorgrams over the years .. each time I panicked, as I didn't know those odds .. the first 4 were all clear ...  your Dr has taken your symptoms and is doing a first rate job, by getting you on the 2 week refural ... that is the time frame they go for ... because you had a baby a few months ago, there could be many reasons ... so yea I know it won't stop you worrying ... try to keep it in perspective.... let us know how you go ... esp if it's a good result as we all love to hear them ..

Sending a gentle vertual hug... Chrissie x

  • Thanks for the quick reply. Such a horrible thought to have breast cancer and one that probably every woman I know worries about. I did a LOT of research and found other possibilities of what causes breast pain so I’m keeping my mind open and trying not to worry too much. I suffer with really bad health anxiety and it seems to be one thing after another, especially since I’ve had my little one. Will defo keep you updated x
