Breast scan referral

I'm 51, had a dull ache in my right side arm pit for 8 weeks and yesterday noticed the right breast was very painful. A white discharge came out in the shower from the painful side. The nipple is really itchy. I can't feel any lumps.
The GP has referred me for an urgent scan but I read in the papers that there's a backlog because of Covid 19. Is anyone being screened at the moment?  I'm in SW London area.
I suppose I'm looking for reassurance that the screening service is is up and running. Should I call them?  I was only referred today. I haven't been given an appointment yet.

  • Hi Susie,

From what I've seen on the forum lately a lot of ladies are still being screened but if you're worried then there's no harm in getting in touch with your doctor or the hospital/clinic that will be carrying out your referral to get confirmation and find out more.

Hopefully some of our members who are in the same part of the country who have had a screening recently will let you know how they got on soon.

    Kind regards,

  • I've got an appointment now. June 24. Breast screening one stop clinic.

I had my blood test results back. They are all clear. Except that I have COVID -19 antibodies. I think I had it starting on March 20.

My glands are swollen under my chin, in my neck and in the RHS arm pit. RHS breast is still painful (feels like mastitis).

im confused about my my blood work is clear but I have multiple areas with swollen glands.
I feel well otherwise. Just confused.
