Enlarged right ovary - concerned

Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of advice - I've been having lower right abdominal pain for the last few months. I was referred for an internal ultrasound which showed my right ovary was 12cm (it's supposed to be 3). I previously had an ultrasound in 2017 and my right ovary was 3cm then, so it's quadrupled in size in the last 3 years. The consultant advised that it didn't look polycystic because the follicles didn't meet the required size and I didn't have any cysts. She didn't seem particularly concerned at all. However, I'm very suspicious what could cause this changes if not polycystic ovaries?! My GP says she will come back to me when the results have been sent to her but this may take several weeks. What I've seen online suggests that rapidly enlarged ovaries could be an indication of ovarian cancer so I'm feeling very anxious. I'm only 27. Has anyone else significant changes in ovary size and if so what was the prognosis?

thanks so much,

Hannah
