Waiting for breast clinic appointment

Hi. Ive spoken to my doctor today about my breast problems. Its hard and has a dent at the bottom. My doctor said she would send me for a breast clinic appointment straightaway instead of seeing her first. I feel slightly better now i've taken the first step. I am worrying about a lot of other things too. Results, going to the hospital alone. I've had an ultrasound and biopsy done on my other breast 2 years ago, so im ok about them, but am nervous about other tests.

  • 1 in nearly the whole breast, a few little 1s near my armpit and i think they said theres actually 1 in my armpit. I wasn't expecting more than 1, but got to focus on reducing/ clearing them.

  • You will fight this, so many have so there's no reason you won't. What's the plan? Scans then a treatment plan, you will feel better when you have a plan.

  • How are you doing Amy? I just googled how to manage waiting to go to breast clinic and this conversation thread came up. I hope you're doing well and you have a great plan of action, would be great to hear how you are doing? Imagine 1988 is the year you were born? I'm a 1987 gal. Sending positive and healing vibes across the ether. X

  • I'm also 22 and in the same boat as you. I had my first breast check which was just a nurse going over my breast with her hands and she found a lump and now I'm waiting on a ultrasound. I'm worried on how long it's going to take

  • Ah goodness, you're very young! I was reading how fibroids in young women - esspecially Teens and early 20's are very very common (non cancerous lump - totally harmless). They just need to check everything because it's the rules to check with ultrasound etc to rule everything out. You will be going to the breast clinic I believe as anything with breasts go into the breast clinic and it's super quick. Believe you should hear/have your appointment within 2 weeks. Do you know what hospital you will be going to? How long have you been waiting?

  • Hi megrh. I'm good thanks, I'm still on treatment but it's a lot easier now. I had to have a hard area on my mastectomy side checked the other day but thankfully its nothing sinister. I did feel like I was back at square one again though! I know 1988, but people still refer to me as me being young to have this, but the sad thing is, that there are a lot of other younger women who are going through it too. Do you know when your breast clinic appointment is? I hope it all goes.

Lunerlily. I'm sorry to hear about situation. It's good that you've had the lump checked and I think if you're going to the breast clinic next for your ultrasound that they try to see you within 2 weeks. I read that most lumps are benign and I really hope yours is too

  • Hi Amy

Im glad to hear that you are doing so well, you are amazing! How long left of treatment?

For the ladies waiting to be seen, the wait is horrible, try to stay away from Google and keep in the back of your mind that for every 10 women who are seen in the breast clinic,9 will have benign conditions.

  • Hi Amy,

    How are you?

I googled anxious about a breast clinic appointment and this came up!

I found a lump whilst in the bath over Christmas and saw my GP today who is referring me to a clinic but I'm so anxious and worried. Horrible times!

how are you doing now? xxxx

  • Hi,

I've just seen this thread and wanted to say I have my One Stop Clinic on Thursday and I'm really worried.  I've gone back to work today but they all saying a good Christmas and I wanted to come home.

It's the unknown, what will they find that's so scary.  Just to say good luck and hopefully we all get good results

  • Hi,

I understand your concern and totally understand how anxious you must be feeling.

I have been referred to the breast clinic twice so far,my latest was one week ago. Firstly because I had found a lump, that turned out to be fatty tissue. Second time as I had alot of raised red bumps, turned out to be cyst's.

Remember not everything will turn out to be cancer but the breast clinic is the place to be, they really know their stuff.

Hope you are bearing up ok.
