Second biopsy

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, 28, and found a small lump in my lower left breast. I received a call from the hospital today to discuss the results of the biopsy, and they've advised that I am to go in next week for a second biopsy.

They didn't explain why I needed a second one over the phone, and gave nothing away in terms of a potential diagnosis, but I'm worried.

Has anyone gone through the same process? And if so, what was the need of the second biopsy?

How did you all deal playing the waiting game?

All the best,

Abs

  • Hello abgza and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with a breast lump at the moment. It's not uncommon for women to be asked to have a 2nd biopsy. Sometimes the tissue sample from the first biopsy isn't enough or doesn't give clear cut answers and whilst it can be worrying to be asked for a 2nd biopsy it's obviously better to have a full picture.

I'm sure that if you give our team of nurses a call they'd be happy to talk things through with you. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that all goes smoothly next week. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
