Hi, this is my first post here...i have been reading this forum past few days as i am waiting on an app to have a lump in my breast checked and just seen ur post.

I had trouble with my periods about 4 years ago, i had some abdominal pain and very heavy periods. I could bleed sometimes for nearly two weeks, other times i could get my period and it would finish and then a couple of days later, start bleeding again. My iron levels were very low.

My mam passed away from cervical cancer and my doctor refered me to a gynae consultant...she also ordered bloods which included a ca125 blood test which is a tumour marker for cancer, it came back higher than what it should have been which raised alarm bells and terrified me the more i looked into a raised ca125.

I had an ultrasound and a mass showed up. He thought it was a cyst on my ovary. I later had a laparoscopy and they had a good look around inside and also removed the cyst that day and sent it off for tests or the fluid inside i suppose and results came back ok.

After that my periods calmed down a bit and a ca125  test showed the levels had gone down which was such a relief.

Been a few years now so can't really answer your questions but I thought i would just post to let you or anyone else reading this that sometimes it is nothing serious and that something benign like a cyst can wreak havoc and cause a lot of worry and distress. A cyst can also raise the ca125 levels. Good luck with your appointment.
