? Cervical cancer, awaiting further tests

I went to my GP on Friday as I have been experiencing spotting and have only had one very heavy period since December. I am 37 and thought I may have been going through the early menopause. I had bloods done the week before and they came back normal. So asked GP to investigate further.

GP examined me on Friday, she stated that my cervix is abnormal, it isn't circular in shape and it has some very bulbous lumos on it that bleed when touched. She took some swabs and has referred me on the 2 week rule. Within the hour my doctors surgery phoned me with an appointment for Thursday.

I didn't really ask many questions as I was in shock and I just wanted to get out of there, but now I'm terrified that she thinks it's cancer. Does anybody else have any answers or similar experience?

  • Yes in part I have xx

Irregular bleeding for several months - turned out to be an infection. Never had any issues since it was treated.

Also, I've had a bulbous lump on cervix for years and years - innocent polyp although it does cause me some jip with bleeding and (sorry) rupturing through lady and partner time. Often breaks away. All screenings fine.
Have you had any cervical screenings? xxx

  • Hi

Thanks for replying, I had some cervical swabs taken on Friday, she couldn't get the speculum in to do proper swabs due to me cervix entrance being so swollen and bleeding to touch. I'm going to womens health on Thursday so think they will try and get some more swabs then. I have had previous fibroids so I'm hoping its just something to do with them.
