Hi,
I have recently gone for a mammogram after the GP found a lump, following a concern I had with my breast. The lump she found was new to me and you really have to dig.deep to find it. It sits quite high up in the breast/chest area.
Following the mammogram I was taken to see the consultant who asked for more info, I was a little nervous to explain and said the lump was quite deep. She poked a certain area that hurt and she said it's just muscle tissue rub some gel on it. I felt a little silly for not questioning it at the time but I felt like I was wasting her time. She barely examined me nothing as meticulous as the GP. She then said you're fine to be discharged. When i said cant you feel the lump she just replied there is no lump. There is clearly a lump, if you go digging for it, but then is that the reason why? Should you feel lumps nearer the surface? I feel considering the position of the lump that the mammogram may have missed it, however an ultrasound may have detected it. I feel stupid for not being firm but it just all very rushed.
I am 45 and my mum who is now 63 is currently secondary breast cancer and was diagnosed stage 3 at the age of 55.
Should I bother the GP again, maybe get a referral for ultrasound at the normal hospital?
Thanks for your time.
