Any advice 10 month ongoing cancer scare

Sorry for long lost.

Since January 2019 i start feeling generally unwell loss of energy, struggling exercise and fatigue started with nausea feeling in about February.

Joints started to hurt July and end of July 2019 upp right quadrant of the back into the side really started to hurt and nausea was getting worse. Then middle of September weight loss started then 2 weeks later daily projectile vomiting started and lost a stone in month.

I went for test on gall bladder negative result. Then cameras up and down twice negative. Suspected bowel or pancreatic cancer considered. Then admitted for second time to hospital CT scan showed lymph nodes in chest to lung and single nodule. Informed along with my family i had lung cancer and needed a biopsy to determine if 99% fatal really good chat. Lymphoma was a back up so told it was looking like cancer and was told to prepare due to my symptoms. At this point was vomiting projectile upwards of 20 times.

Had an EBUS report indicated no sign of cancer but showed signs of sarcoidosis. That was January 2020. From there been waiting for treatment. I have continued vomiting daily i mean every day 5-20 times and since October i have lost in total 4.5 stone still on no treatment. Spoke to my consultant who says he cant rule out Lymphoma so cancer has never been off the table.

Has 2 lumps checked by my GP referred to ENT who sent for biopsy. At the ultrasound couldnt find the swollen nodes detected in examination but found that the thyroid was showing a hetergeneous abnormality. So waiting on blood tests. I have now 2 new lumps at the top of the thigh.

I have recently had a head and neck MRI just to make sure there was nothing there causing the symptoms apparently all clear. I have stiff swollen neck, aching right arm pit no lumps that i can feel but not sure, pain in right side of groin area, swollen thyroid, swollen lymph nodes in chest and now lumps at the top of thigh. I have developed high BP which is medicted, pulse rate up and down, vomiting daily 5-20 times, breathlessness, pain, no appetite.

When asked about treatment for the only thing they have an idea for he admitted that does not want to give me steroids as this could mask serioud disease. He continued saying including lymphoma and we have discussed although he doesnt think it is he cannot rule it out. Basically meaning it could be great so no further forward.

I am in limbo. Friends are approaching my family saying sorry i have cancer, family liking me to people who have suffered cancer. Work telling me on video calls i look unwell tired and asking if i can continue working.

Has anyone experienced this or know of anyone experiencing this. How to get a test to help confirm either way i am so desperate to know either way. Not knowing why so ill and knowing the cancer worry wont go is not good. If it is at least I will know. I can get on with fighting it at the moment im fighting an unknown enemy.

In respect of vomiting no medication works. The only time in 10 months i have stopped vomitin was on last admission when they gave me steoids used for cancer patients as they thought thats what it was. Found out when i walked past the doctor who didnt know me and i didnt know him and they were asking staff why is he not on oncology if we are suspected pancreatic cancer he then came to speak to me and left without informing me of his worries. The nurse confirmed it after i asked them directly.

10 months waiting to find out why my body as crashef and any help advice or experience will be great good or bad anything.

  • Poor you Granvillw, this is indeed a really long time to have to wait and not having any answers yet to explain your symptoms must be incredibly frustrating. The recurrent vomiting must be so exhausting for you and I really hope that they get to the bottom of what is causing all this very soon as you need to get a definite diagnosis. It must be so hard to be in this state of limbo and I really hope that you find out more soon. If you feel you are not getting anywhere, it might be worth considering getting a second opinion. You can find out more about getting a second opinion on this page

I hope you will meet others on this forum who have been in a similar situation before and that they will share their experience with you.

Keeping everything tightly crossed for you that you get a proper and definite diagnosis soon!

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you.

I have a follow up appointment on thursday next week. I have had a look on line in respect of EBUS findings on lymphoma. I kind of got my head around something. EBUS was in respect of TB, Sarcoidosis, and lymphoma and poss lung cancer. In respect of the EBUS they said no signs of cancer but scan suggest sarcoidosis although no trace of granulomas??.

I have noted hodgkin Lymphoma can be missed if not previously diagnosed (research studies and BTS) as stats of false negatives bein 39%. Also with the Thyroid being hetergeneous and that lymph nodes of neck with HL may appear normal its a topic of conversation. Vomiting can in rair instances be part of symptoms and i now know why he still considers it as a possibiliy. Its time we had a front up chatm i know the difficulties re diagnosis (whatever it is) at present but would rather know what Im fighting. Thank yoi for your time in replying.
