Referral process

Hi everybody. I am a 27 year old man, recently had my GP check out a lump in my chest/armpit area that has been there for a few weeks now, painless etc. I know this could well be, and probably is something totally harmless but I have a referral at a breast clinic next week. Just wondering if anybody, particularly male have had any experience with this as obviously it is quite nerve racking in the run up to the appointment and I dont know really what I should expect. Thanks in advance, stay safe :)

  • Hi Sweeneychris58,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Firstly it's good to hear you've had this checked out and that you have a referral. It's of course perfectly natural to feel unsettled or worried while waiting for an appointment for tests - the uncertainty is never easy. In terms of what to expect, there is some information that may be helpful here.

There will be many others on this forum who have been through something similar, and so hopefully others will be along soon if they see this post.

I hope it's not too long to wait for the appointment and that it all goes OK.

Do use this forum as much as you'd like at any point for support.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
