2 year old swollen glands

Hi there. My 2 year old has had a large lump in his neck since beginning of March. We've finally had blood tests and ultrasound today. Bloods were normal Altho he is a little low on iron but not anaemic, the ultrasound - the radiologist said the node looked larger than he would expect even for inflammation  - and there were other swollen nodes on both sides of neck but not as large. He suspects inflammation but wants the consultant to diagnose. Would/ could the radiologist get it wrong? Would he tell us even if he suspected it might be lymphoma?

very anxious mum here imagining the worst.

thank you x

  • Oh hun I'm with you. I highly doubt they would risk getting it wrong with a toddler. I've been suffering with swollen nodes for a while then two weeks ago found one on my son who's 18 months above his collarbone (google says this is very bad so I'm terrified esp as I have one there too!) when you see consultant I'd get him to make sure there is no doubt there is anything w

rong 100% as it's your baby!!!

Odds are it's something small like reactive nodes xx

  • Thank you. I hope you and your baby are ok. We will see co sultant tomorrow and radiologist said he might want to do more tests or a biopsy. The thing about the infection is - he hasn't been remotely unwell. And since lockdown he's not been exposed to anything. So I don't know what it could be?! His blood tests were all normal. I just feel like we will have to get more tests done and more waiting
