Multiple palpable lymph nodes and now on my son!!

Hi I've posted before and I’m trying not to freak out but I’ve has palpable but not swollen lymph nodes since at least December including my armpit, my collarbone and my neck. I’ve had ultrasounds, bloods, X-ray by my go referral to conclude I’m skinny... I’m not lol average size 10-12 24 year old all nodes except armpit I'd say less than a cm armpit 1-1.5 cm but my throat is so lumpy anyways I have a weird blister looking thing on my tonsil, ear pain and sore throat too but no sweats, weight loss etc

anyways my dentist referred me to a maxiofacial/ENT specialist and I had a telephone consultation and an mri (without contrast due to nursing).. the consultant said he would review everything with me over the phone in four weeks from our initial consultation about two weeks ago, I had my MRI and he’s now requested to see me in person ..

Would this make you think he saw something bad? To ask to have face to face ? It’s in two weeks so not like next day urgency but I’m freaking out ️ What'd scaring me most is I nurse my toddler who's 18 months and for the last 2 weeks he has a palpable not large right collarbone lymph node.. I'm so so scared I've made him sick or something through nursing? I've seen it's rare but possible.

im really scared and feeling so guilty

  • As many of our members have found out, reading too much in to things or over analysing can make the wait so much harder so if you can try not to fixate on this too much.

There have been a few posts on the forum recently where members are now having their appointments in person again as the hospitals try to get things back on track so it could be due to this.

Hopefully you'll hear back from some of our members soon but I hope this information about waiting for news will help you through the next two weeks.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi lovely, how did you get on? I hope things are okay with you. Also you can have contrast if breastfeeding, I was told not to nurse for 24 hours after it (my 2 year old still nurses)

  • Hiya ! I didn't have the contrast because I wasn't really aware of possibilities so didn't do it just because I didn't know anything about it and didn't have time to research! My son still has his lymph node in his collar bone and the doctor said two weeks ago come back in 4 weeks I checked today it's still there but I won't poke his like I do mine!

I've been told mri is clear but doesn't help me with regards to why I can feel so many. An ent specialist had a feel said he didn't feel anything worrying he said the area I was concerned about that my hyoid bone had a wing to it and that's what he could feel but to me it feels like all my other lymph nodes.. I forgot to show him the other one I'm worried about which is annoying but I emailed his assistant who said he wasn't in until Wednesday. He also saidt salivary glands hang lower on the left side so can feel them. But it just doesn't explain why I can feel them, my armpit has a decent sized one too. It's been since December so I'm like is this likely to be anything sinister but my worry is that it is and my son has one in his collarbone is it anything that could have gone to him. Think I might give the lymphoma help line a call and make sure that if it was that it wouldn't go down to him like that - it's scary when it involved the kiddies!!

    thanks for asking!

    Are you okay? X

  • Ahh bless you. Have you not been offered a lymph node biopsy at all? Maybe you should ask for one to see what's going on in there. I can understand your concern for your son definitely

im going through some unexplainable issues right now. I have some neck and chest lymph node swellings, I have an ultrasound on Thursday but the main issues are my abdomen so I don't know why my neck would be puffed up x

  • No I haven't because apparently none of them are worrying I really wanted one for my armpit as it's quite long but she just said she would do a biopsy if she's worried but it's a long lymph node... it's still not gone down so I might be cheeky and call the hospital directly as GPS are not seeing us often they were the last one to see it and ask if there's anything I can do as it's uncomfortable and rubs on my clothes.. pretty sure not normal lol. I have a painful lymph node on my jaw and one further down that I'm pretty sure is resting on my arteries there it's quite uncomfortable!

hmm, they could just be two separate issues? Maybe your body is fighting an infection in your tummy and something viral? Is this a recent problem I've seen coronavirus can present itself with stomach issues and raised glands!

my son has his next appointment with GP next Friday. It's just the current madness in the world making it more scary asking family to keep a distance when we see them next week! But in laws have a habit of not listening lol!
