Abandoned

Hi feeling abandoned I Received a letter saying I needed an appointment to discuss having a colonoscopy a day later that was cancelled for at least 3 months so I am confused the letter implied that I could have a problem but it will have to wait, I already have had three malignant melanomas removed and have been confirmed as having the cdkn2a gene mutation which makes me slightly more at risk of developing other cancers how much longer will I have to keep worrying about this when is the nhs reopening for cancer screening

  • Hi Toffeeapple,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. The NHS is open for regular care, so if you are feeling confused and that you should be having an appointment that you were originally scheduled to have, then check this with your doctor and then you can find out about getting this rescheduled. Waiting times may be increased due to a backlog of postponed appointments over the last few weeks, but it's important that you are clear on your next steps and what to expect - so as I say do speak to your doctor about this.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hello Toffeeapple,

l can well imagine the impact this will be having on you,and can only suggest your medical team will be painfully aware also, and would wish to get this resolved as soon as possible, whilst balancing the risks of doing the most urgent cases as they progress forward. It may be the NATIONAL health service but regions will impacted to varying degrees, with some in a more precarious state currently and slower to move back into critical cancer care treatments.l can only hope that your wait will not be that much longer,
