Wide leg incision and incision in groin

Hi ,

I two weeks ago had my op for a wide leg incision to check further cells after my melanoma removal, it was a t3 and was 2.4mm deep.

ive also had the lymph nodes tested and waiting on my results which I was told would take 2 weeks or maybe before.  Reading all the other comments they seem to be taking longer ?  Has anyone had their results in this time scale as I keep thinking no news is fingers crossed good news?   Has anyone else had the same stage melanoma as me as all seem to be smaller ?

still scary mind whatever the size.

my scar is very deep and keep getting what I can only describe as electric shocks from numbness ?

kind regards

tina

  • Hya,

I have had X-ray, blood tests, 2 MRIscans, ultrasound  and finally in 19 May, a US guided needle biopsy. I was sent by GP for a 2 week urgent referral for a suspected Sarcoma - 3 months ago.

Don't  know any of the results bar X-rays dine in March,  and have had little communication so finally googled for information re each test.

Basically am just waiting for biopsy results now - I think. So yes - results can take 2 weeks plus and I appreciate every hospital is really busy and different but in my case it's now over 2 weeks since biopsy

The waiting is a killer but it is what it is. Good luck x

  • Hi,

I'm sorry you are waiting for your results. Pre Covid results for Wide Local Excision and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsies were averaging 3 weeks wait. It's difficult to say how long you may be waiting because every hospital is different. Some hospitals aren't getting as many referrals and therefore doing excision because of Covid (people aren't seeing their GPs). These hospitals are getting results back quicker. The rest are still busy with excisions and therefore Covid is causing delays with results. So I'm afraid the wait could be a little longer..

Regarding the depth of your melanoma, some with deep ones have no further problems whilst some with shallow ones can (like me). Melanoma is an unpredictable cancer so no two patients will be the same.

Good luck and I hope your results come back quickly and are clear.

  • Hi,

I've sent you a friend request in case you want to chat about your diagnosis. I've been a melanoma patient for 24 years (Stage 1 in 1996 & then Stage 3 in 2009) so I sadly have a lot of experience in the subject. Good luck,

    Angie
