Core biopsy today - hoping for reassurance

Hi,

I'm 33 and my situation is I found a small dimple like a fingerprint on my breast about 1 month ago I went to the doctors referred to breast clinic (luckily as originally at appointment dr said was all fine but she called back after speaking to colleague) had clinic apt today and following examination which seemed positive at first i had ultrasound and was sent for a mammogram then another ultrasound then a core biopsy as found a mass.

Sorry for the long post I just didn't ask any questions at the time as was abit shocked , so I'm hoping for some reassurance that people have maybe had experience of similar being benign or cyst or something.
thanks Vikki

  • Hi Vikki,

If you have a contact number for the clinic maybe you could give them a call and see if they can answer some of the questions you forgot to ask when you had your appointment.

Hopefully some of our members who have had a similar experience will get back to you soon but if you'd like to have a chat about this with one of our cancer nurses you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We'll have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Vikki,

Sorry you find yourself in this situation. Waiting for results is really hard.

I had a similar experience to you in that I went to the breast clinic, had an initial consultation in which they were quite positive and then went for a mammogram, ultrasound and a core biopsy due to a solid mass found.  I didn't expect to be leaving with no answers so was quite stressed and upset.

I just got the results this afternoon that it was nothing to worry about. I've read that 80% of breast biospys turn out to be fine.  You also have age on your side so hopefully your results will fine.

I hope you get answers soon as I know waiting is just awful. The last week and a half has been horrible for me.

Feel free to message me if you need a chat xx

  • Thanks for your reply and fingers crossed . It does help to hear of other people's good news and I'm glad your results were not anything to worry about.

I think it is just the waiting/not knowing that is  worse somehow , but I am trying to be more positive as like you say it likely something innocent

    thanks Vikki x
