3 months and still no wiser

Why does it take so long for diagnosis- is it because of COVID-19?

I have had no communication or results  except phone calls with scan and biopsy appointment dates so still don't know what's what and just Google for information. The needle biopsy was 2 weeks ago and am waiting for a call re diagnosis and treatment

  • Hi Mermaid132,

Thank you for posting. I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you have, but, as you can imagine, the demand on health services is high due to COVID-19 so there may be some delay. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.  And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

I hope you get a phone call soon,

  • Thankyou,

my GP told me 3 months ago it was she thought Sarcoma (leg) then Pointed out I smoked, I don't, I gave up over 3 years ago, ordered same day chest X-ray (was all clear) and leg X-ray (wasn't clear)

Have had various scans and needle biopsy- since, no results yet and this was a 2 week urgent referral. Now 12 weeks. So I am (a) in more pain and (b) stressed.

It's difficult not to be anxious  for anyone waiting for diagnosis but more so at the moment
