Can a relative be present during confirmation of diagnosis

My mum has been in hospital for over a week and after speaking to a doctor on Friday they are almost certain she has cancer. The final results are due tomorrow and they then plan to hold an MDT meeting to discuss. I do not want my mum to be on her own when they give her the diagnosis, would it be possible for me to be with her bearing in mind that no visitors are allowed.

  • I would speak.with the ward she is based on. I work in a hospital but unfortunately unless.someome is nearing the end of their life there is still no visitors allowed. Alot of wards can arrange for FaceTime on lpads with your mum which could be an alternative.

Hope the news is better than expected x
