Possibly bowled cancer - symptoms?

Hello,

I'm very new here. Having googled lots of symptoms I came across this forum and thought it may be of some use to try and get some insight and support.

My beautiful mother, who is now 56, has been unfortunately having some dark blood in her stools. She initially noticed it once in March and more recently again twice last week. She has also described having some pain in her right side, she said that she has had that for some time, however. For the last two years she's been anaemic and the doctor put it down to menopause at the time and she is taking iron tablets. Now she is concerned it has been something more sinister all this time.

Since having the bleeding last week, shecontacted her doctor and has been referred to the local Colon dept. She has now noticed blood in her stool daily.

I am absolutely petrified that this is the big C and I cannot bare the thought of losing her. The symptoms of pain in the right side suggest possible liver cancer? And this would mean stage 4? From what I've read the chances of survival are very slim. I am completely filled with dread and anxiety of what is to come but will be with her every single step of the way of any journey we have to face.

My mother is a full time carer for my disabled sister who absolutely dotes on her. I cannot fathom the heartbreak if something were to happen to my mother. She is our best friends and I don't know how my father, sister and I would cope without her. She's the glue that holds our family together.

  • Welcome to the forum Hereformymam although I'm sorry about the symptoms your mum is experiencing.

All these thoughts are completely natural when waiting for tests and results but you're not alone as many of our members have been in this situation with their loved ones so will know what you're going through at the moment and will hopefully pop by soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime I just wanted to let you know we're thinking of you and wishing your mum all the best with her colonoscopy.

    Kind regards,
