Chronic Cough

For the past 4 months I have been suffering from a chronic cough and I am really worried that Incould have lung cancer. The cough started off chesty with lots of thick green mucus (with one occasion months ago containing a slight amount of blood but I didn't think much of it.) Now my cough seems to be more dry with thin mucus as I make my way I to the summer months. Also my cough now seems to be worse during mourning and evening tims and I feel slight chest pains now and again although it doesn't really prevent me from doing daily activities. I have been to the doctors already a couple of months ago and they said everything was alright from my oxygen levels and stuff.

I am just still worried that something like lung cancer could be progressing inside of me and being at 4 months of having it I worry I might have left it too late. It is often my mind that makes me think I have something like Cancer yet still it is worrying to have these symptoms. Also it's hard to see a GP again due to COVID-19 so don't know what to do...

Im 18 btw.

  • Hi DanE01,

I'm sorry to read about your worries. If you're still concerned, and things haven't improved over the months, then you can always make a second appointment with the GP. It may be that they speak to you on the phone initially and then they can suggest to see you in person if they feel it would be necessary. It's only a doctor who can advise on this so do give them a call if you're worried.

    All the best,
