Breast Clinic Advice

Hi, all

i'm hoping someone can help me with some information, i have a breast clinic appointment coming soon and i'm wondering want the policy is for taking someone in there with you. I read comments online but nothing says whether you can due to the Covid-19. I've seen a few comments about having an appointment during the lockdown but nothing about this. I was referred to the clinic from my GP ad i have a lump in my right breast could either be a cyst or Cancer. This i won't know until i've had some testing. I won't lie i'm terrified and i'm hoping i can have someone with me there that i know so i'm not facing anything to come alone.

  • I would check your local hospital website to see what is/isn't allowed. As far as I know  for my local trust, no visitors unless you're seeing someone terminally ill or are a birthing partner. My partner is coming to hospital with me but waiting outside on the grounds. It sucks though, I'd rather someone be sat in the waiting room with me etc. Hope your appointment goes okay x

  • HI,

When I attended 5 weeks ago for mammogram, uss and biopsy I didn't have anyone with me but there was another patient who had her partner there throughout. When I went to get my results i took one of my friends and there was no objection. Though for my pre op stuff all the letters have said I need to wear a mask and be alone and I've been told for my op which is not in my usual hospital that I have to do so alone.

Different hospital, different rules like S9165 said best to call and check.

    Best of luck x
