Swollen Lymphnode in neck - worried

Hi everyone,

I'm an 18 year old female and I've had a swollen lymphnode on the right side of my neck under my chin since december last year. I went to the doctors and they did a blood test and ultrasound and said everything was clear. They said it was just a swollen lymphnode and would just go down in a few weeks. It's still here and doesn't seem to be changing size so I'm really worried. I have a review appointment in october but because of covid I can't go see anyone about it before hand. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm worried it's lymphoma - my health anxiety is through the roof.

Thanks :)

  • Hey jazza!

a lot of us on here are here for that reason! Sometimes lymph nodes don't return back to the original size! Some people can feel lymph nodes anyways, if it's pea or bean size then that's just the normal size of a lymph node really although big google will tell you that if it's not gone in two weeks it's cancer - that really isn't always (most times it isn't) the case!

I have quite large glands in my neck either side like small balls, and a small lymph nodes a lot smaller that I can feel in my neck, collarbone and armpits! The doctors aren't worried and they haven't grown (like yours which is a good sign)!

i wouldn't worry too much unless it grows like crazy or you get Night sweats, weight loss etc but give your doctors a call as they can speak with you over the phone if you are worried!!

    hope that helps,

  • Hey! :)

I have the exact same issue, swollen nodes in my neck for the past 6 months with the largest under my right jaw. Doctors told me they would go down but haven't. I've also had other symptoms like night sweats and full body itching which worries me so I have been referred on a 2 week wait to the haematologists. I'm so scared! :(
