Cutaneous horn

Hi everyone, would like some advice. My dad is very sore with large cutaneous horn on top of hand. They have said when ringing hospital it could be 8 months before it is seen and biopsy. Can anyone advice in what to do. He has also had a lot of weight loss recently.

  • Hello Tineybop

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad is dealing with this problem at the moment. I would get in touch with your Dad's GP again to see if they can offer any advice about managing the discomfort and the weight loss that you've mentioned.

I do hope that he doesn't have to wait too long for his appointment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Tineybop how is your Dad ? I to have a cutaneous horn on the back of my hand. I was fast tracked Oct 2020 from GP to Dermotology and from there was told it would have to be plastic surgery for removal and biopsy. I had a telephone consulstation from Plastics at beginning of Nov 2020 and they said 6 - 8 weeks for an appointment which is around now.  I have not heard anything as yet and obvs with Covid I am resigned to it taking longer. My worry is that a few weeks ago I caught it and the tip of the horn came away. The base is still there and I think another horn is forming. When I had the phone consultation the consultant asked a few times was I experiencing any itching which at the time I was'nt just the pain but now it does itch and I dont know if this is someting I need to make them aware of.?

I do hope your Dad is ok and that he has been seen.

    Take care
