Cervical erosion

Hi everyone,

im so glad I have found this chat... cut a long story short I had a baby July 19 and had problems healing etc, have always gone straight to the doctor fore examination when something new has appeared... anyway in October my doctor examined me and said I have large cervical erosion and that it should go away itself. In the mean time I started on the depo in nov and ever since I have had bleeding, due to Covid19 and me just wanting it to go away I haven’t been back the doctors until just last week, explained the bleeding had continued and I’ve started bleeding after sex... she examined me and said yes I still have large cervical erosion and she would refer me to gynaecologist... so I went home and felt relieved that something would be done untilI went on my patient access and read our consultation and she has fast tracked me for suspected cervical cancer... I rang the doctor and asked her to explain this as she had not mentioned it to me during consultation... she said she doesn’t suspect it’s cervical cancer but would like to rule it out.. now I am absolutely petrified, anxiety going through the roof that I may have cervical cancer... why would she even use those words in my referral form if she didn’t think it was that?!I have an appointment for my colposcopy a week on Tuesday and I am seriously stressing out, I can’t eat, sleep, focus on looking after my baby, I’m taking my self away from any situation as I cannot focus on anything but reading stories about cervical cancer... my baby needs me and I am going to be too I’ll to look after him or not be here at all please could I hear your stories if you have been in the same situation as me, I can’t possibly wait another week to know if I have cervical erosion, I am going out of my mind

thankyou

  • Hi [@Beck80]‍

    Thankyou for your reply,

i am thankful the gynaecologist couldn’t see any cancer when she looked, and as you say, she is an expert and will most definitely be able to see cancerous cells. I am so relived for you. I have a bit of hope for my appointment on Tuesday reading the stories I have, cancerous cells are quite easy to detect and doctors would see it. I’m sure your test results will be just what doctor has said, can I ask, do you have any children? If so were your problems before or after delivery?

    Stay safe,

    charlotte x

  • Hey [@sweetpea8610]‍

Ah okay so this has come on since having your baby too? Or being pregnant? I presume that’s where mine has come from because I’ve never had problems before my baby, did they fast track you? Don’t think you’ll be waking much longer for your appointment, they rang me the day after with my appointment.

    stay safe,

    Charlotte x

  • Hi [@Charlottehannah]‍

I suppose it depends what it is on whether pregnancy is to blame or not. The doctor did tell me cervical ectropy can be caused by pregnancy because of the surge in esteogen i think. So maybe I have that and that's why I've been spotting. So likely it may be your cause of symptoms too if you've never had any problems too! Doctor just told me she was requesting an urgent referral, still waiting for my appointment. Hopefully won't be waiting much longer!

    xx

  • Hi [@Beck80]‍

Please keep us informed of your results! I have positive feelings for you though! Sounds like you'll be able to move on from this soon ️

  • Hey [@sweetpea8610]‍

just had a call off my doctor to discuss the swab results and all have come back clear, with possible bacterial vaginitis, but not enough evidence to treat. Whilst speaking I asked her, her thoughts on what the previous doctor had found, she said I have a blood vessel at 12 o clock area, have you ever heard of anything like this? Doctor said when she examined me in October there wasn’t a blood vessel there, just large cervical erosion. She didn’t sound very promising tbh and said I just need to wait till my appointment, now I’m worrying again.

Have you had your appointment come through yet?

    sending best wishes x

  • Hi [@Charlottehannah]‍

Ive never heard of blood vessel coming out the cervix before I must be honest. When did the doctor see this blood vessel? In what sense was the doctor not promising? Sorry to hear it's been a tough day for you. Hang on in there! You'll have answers tomorrow. And I'm sure it'll be good news. Have faith! Please let me know how you get on! I've not had my appointment through yet sadly. Can only wait and hope it's soon Will be thinking of you tomorrow! Please let me know how you get on.

  • Hi [@sweetpea8610]‍

I haven’t had any bleeding since the doctor examine me nearly 2 weeks ago now, I explained everything to the consultant, my delivery etc. He was reassuring. I asked if he could tell me there and then if he thought it was cancer and he said yes. Thankfully, it isn’t cancer and is just the cervical erosion, I do have some abnormal cells on the cervix though he did say they are a low grade and wouldn’t need treatment and usually eating healthy and exercise can help them go away, he took a biopsy and said the results should be back within 4-6 weeks. I cried when he said it wasn’t cancer, I have full hope that yours is just cervical erosion too. Sending loves and hugs x

  • Hi [@Charlottehannah]‍

Thats fantastic news! So glad everything went well for you. You'll be feeling so relieved. They're experts at what they do and know.  And now you can relax :) I actually got seen today too in the end! I had a transvaginal scan and everytbing was fine. During my colposcopy they discovered I had cervical ectropy too at my site of my previous treatment for cin3. So got a wee silver nitrate treatment on that which wasn't invasive. They took a couple of swabs too to send off for virology just to make sure I have no infections. So I'm also so relieved at the outcome :) It's been so nice having your support during this. Xx

  • Hi [@sweetpea8610]‍

Ah that is amazing news! Finally it’s over for us both and no more speculating and worrying. You too, I’m glad we kept each other going until our examination.

Stay safe, all the best for you and your family x
