Urgant referral...Colposcopy.

This is my first time posting on something like this so I apologies if its long winded but i have myself sick with worry and im hoping someone with a similar experience can put my mind at rest.

I had my first abnormal pap test and colposcopy in 2015 and was diagnosed with HPV and cervical erosion. After giving birth to my first son in 2016 i went for a scheduled colposcopy appointment were the nurse said she could see visible changes and i may need LEETZ however she took a biopsy and said they would be in touch and afew weeks later received a leter to say everything was normal and to attend my next scheduled appointment. In the meantime i moved to Ireland and have had no follow up appointments here even though i mentioned my history to my doctor.

Iv recently gave birth to my second son in December and when i was in labour the midwife passed a remark while examining me about my cervix looking very irritated which i again mentioned on my postnatal check but due to Covid19 all smears have been postponed :( however for the last few weeks iv been having other symptoms irregular periods, fatigue, pelvic pain, painful intercourse. My doctor took bloods which came back showing underactive thyroid but this didnt explain painful intercourse so i pretty much begged for her to take a look to see if anything was going on down there. Her words exactly when she examined my cervix where "yes i wouldn't like the look of that im going to send an emergency referral" since then all iv done is worry and take to Google which is making me ever worse because my symptoms are signs of invasive cervical cancer :(

Has anyone else has a similar experience and everything turned out ok, im absolutely terrified for my two young boys.

  • Hi, I am in pretty much the same position, I had a baby July 19 and had problems ever since down there, doctor told me I had cervical erosion in October an it would go away, I started the depo injection nov 19 and ever since had irregular bleeding and r cent key bleeding after sex, I went to the doctor last week and she said yes I still have large cervical erosion and she would refer me to the gynaecologist, that night I went on my patient access and seen she had actually fast tracker m for suspected cervical cancer, I called her immediately and asked her to explain this, she said she doesnt think it is cervical cancer but would like confirmation it is cervical erosion and due to covid 19 the within lists are enormous. I have my colposcopy booked for a week on Tuesday and I am absoltly dreading 5  outcome, my little boy needs me. Please keep in touch and I hope you get your colposcopy soon.. I will keep you informed. Sending lots of love x

  • Hi thank you so much for your reply, im sorry to here you are in the same position as myself as its such a worry :( i also have my colposcopy tuesday week so i will be thinking of you and i hope everything turns out ok for us both. I had no symptoms until i got my first period after giving birth which was 13 weeks pp and i bleed extremely heavy for 5 weeks but just put it down to having a baby. Then since last week iv had spotting and pelvic pain especially on my left side. I eventually pluched uo the courage to phone my doctor's to ask what she found alarming and could it be the erosion? She said she could see the erosion but also purple lesions and she wasnt happy with how it looked. My anxiety is through the roof as the only thing that comes up when googling symptoms is cc. Everytime i look at my kids i burst out crying as i can't imagine not been around for them. Xx

  • Hi, it is an awful situation to be in. Yes same, I only had problems start after I had my baby, I’ve never had anything wrong with down there at all, and ever since having the baby I’ve had every bacterial infection going, BV, granulation tissue and now the cervical erosion, I had ventiuse so I imagine that caused all this damage, and now this is th repercussions of everything. So your colposcopy is on 2nd June too? I have read on here that the gynaecologist can usually tell if there is cancer cells as soon as looking and the tests are just to confirm, 8 days is such a long time to wait for something so big, I have my boy who relies on me for everything so I totally get what you mean. I take myself away a lot and I know I shouldn’t but I just can’t cope with it all, keep in touch and let me know your results. My fingers are crossed for you and hopefully god is looking down on you for your family x

  • Hi sorry i didn't reply iv been trying  to keep my mind busy and not read too much online. Its been the longest 8 days ever :( i just wanted to wish you well for today and i hope everything goes smoothly X
