Follow up Smear after LLETZ

Hello,

I had LLETZ treatment in March, where CIN 3 cells were removed.
My partner and I were planning on trying for a baby this year but this treatment has thrown a bit of a spanner in to the works.
I know that if pregnant, you can wait for treatment after having a baby but I'm worried about the anxiety of waiting and having it hang over me - especially with a baby on the way! I'd feel a lot more settled knowing everything was alright now, before trying for children.

I don't suppose anyone has ever had their follow up smear test earlier than six months after their LLETZ treatment, have they? If so, how long after LLETZ did they have the follow up smear?

  • Hello Helenius89

I@m sorry to hear that you've needed some treatment for CIN recently. I'd think that it's unlikely that your follow up smear would be brought forward however it would be worth taking to your GP or the nurse practitioner at your surgery as I'm sure they would be able to offer you some advice about the timing for trying to start a family.

    Best wishes,
