4 weeks to be seen by breast clinic ....

I found a lump last Friday, have bloody nipple discharge and shooting pains, saw the GP Monday and now have to wait 4 weeks for the breast clinic ...feel sick with worry and it feels like a long time to be feeling like this I can't concentrate on anything. Breast cancer runs heavily in my family also.

  • Sorry to hear this Jay!  We're both in a similar boat I think, although mine is just a lump.  I saw my GP on Monday and was told the same 2-4 weeks wait atm because of Covid for a referral.  I've ended up calling a local private hospital to rush it through if they can, because frankly, I can't stand the idea of waiting a month just for the initial scan.  Is this something that might be an option for you?  It's not cheap I know, but equally it's not AS expensive as I was expecting tbh and I know some private hospitals offer payment plans.  I would also imagine that if cancer runs in your family, that's another reason for them to rush it through even further?  I'm no expert though.   Normally I'm all for supporting the NHS and waiting as long as it takes, but in this case..... %$^£ it basically.

As for concentrating on anything.... don't expect to be able to.  I'm finding ways to keep busy.. usual daily to do lists, but I am breaking off and zoning out more than usual of course.  All this is to be expected.  Just remember there's lots of people on here who are cheering for you and you take this waiting at your own speed and in your own way.  There are no rules out here I don't think.  Veg on the sofa.  Blitz the bathroom.  Whatever works for you.
