Advice - Lymphoma

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum. I've had enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and armpit for approx 6 months. I've slowly felt worse as time has gone on with chronic fatigue, night sweats, headaches and dizziness. The lymph nodes are painful and caused visible swelling. I finally had a CT scan which showed enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and armpit. I've been referred to breast care team for a biopsy and also booked in for an MRI. My blood work is normal. My question is, does enlarged lymph nodes on a CT scan mean cancer? Or could they be enlarged for other reasons? How much can a CT scan tell someone about what is and isn't cancer? I had no tumours seen. Currently feeling confused and worried.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these health problems for a while now. It's understandable that you're feeling confused and worried about what the cause may be.

There could be a number of reasons why these enlarged lymph nodes have shown up on the CT which is why the hospital are arranging for you to have a biopsy and MRI. These results will hopefully give firmer answers to your questions.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses then you're welcome to call them. They are available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).
