I only had my lump biopsied at my appointment, like I said though they are fairly confident it is nothing. I just hope they haven't built me up to be knocked down if the results are not as hoped. My lump is only just over 2cm in size but I am fairly small chested as my surgeon kindly let me know so it is also visible if I palpate it. 

Even if I am negative I am likely going to request it to be removed as it makes me uncomfortable and specially when trying to be intimate with me partner. Having a rock hard lump in my boob

Do keep us updated and hopefully it's not to long until you hear back! I had my appointment  a week ago and I just try not think about it and focus on my normal day to day and it passes alot quicker

looking for your opinions really please.

Im 31 I attended a private breast clinic today as I couldn’t stand the worry anymore.

Everyone was very lovely.

The consultant which I saw confirmed you could see the lump and felt it. Whilst taking my family history which on my paternal side is every female has had breast cancer in their 30s since my grandmother (minus everyone from my generation), the consultant gave me the impression he thought I was lying. He also was writing my answers to questions he was asking me prior to me providing the answer, and then having to amend when I answered otherwise. He asked about my menstration which I advised I didn’t have periods due to my contraceptive.

he sent me for an ultrasound. The doctor who carried this out couldn’t locate the lump, however felt it. I had to show him where it was several times. He did not scan my armpit. He stated that a biopsy/needle test was pointless as there was nothing to stick the needle into it was all just breast tissue. 

he showed me the pictures which to my untrained eye seemed normal, but then he wasn’t scanning the lump anyway so they would be?

i returned to the consultant who confirmed the scan was clear. I stated that the scanner doctor couldn’t locate the lump and he further explained the pictures provided in the scan which were clear. 

I just do not feel at all convinced. Based on my family history I would have thought I would have been sent for a mammogram.

i have the following symptoms and potential relevant medical history:

abnormal smear at 25. Required partial cervix removal

inward nipple

itchy breasts

lump 2x4cm (measured by GP)

dimple to top of breast

dull ache down right arm

slight swelling in little lumps towards collarbone/armpit.

I know what you mean - I am hyper aware of the lump too and definately concious about it with my partner.

I had a call today to go back on Wed 19 at 9am. I presume for my results? They didnt really say on the phone. Feeling worried that the quick appointment time is bad news : (  Wed cant come quick enough.

Glad to hear you're appointment went well. I know you're bound to still worry until you get definite results, but I think they tend to err on the side of caution and try not to give people false hope, so I hope you feel a bit reassured. Let me know how you get on when you get your results xxx

The GP and consultant were right in my case. My left breast is clear but the lump in my right breast in cancerous. It's over 5cm and close to the nipple so they can't save the breast and I have to have a mastectomy. On the plus side it's slow growing and doesn't seem to have spread to my lymph nodes so that's good :)

Steph, good luck with your results. I don't know what to make of them saying nothing either, hopefully it's a good sign - I was pretty much told to expect a cancer diagnosis! So hopefully it means there could be other explanations in your case. Keep us updated and hope you don't have to wait too long xxx

It sounds very positive if they couldn't find anything on the ultrasound. If you're still concerned and don't feel you were taken seriously by the private breast clinic team maybe you could try going through the NHS? Or ask the private clinic for a second opinion? 

If you're worried I would see if your GP can refer you to the breast clinic

Am sorry to hear that yours was infact cancer. Mines was not cancer but just a big lump I am going for a lumpectomy next Thursday as they have said although not cancer they can take it out as it's likely to get bigger overtime. I am really sorry to hear your having a mastectomy but hopefully that will be the end of it !!
