Worrying ovarian cancer investigation

Hi,

I'm really worried. I had a transvaginal ultrasound because I get horrendous periods. They've found something but they don't know what it is and they want to take it out. I'm just waiting for my apppintment.

Yesterday I had bloods done and I've got a raised CA125 marker.

I'm really scared. Has anyone had both of these issues and it not turn out to be ovarian cancer? It's on my left side where I experience a lot of discomfort in my stomach and ribs.

  • Hello,

I don't really have any advice to offer you but I'm going through a similar thing to you right now. I had a giant (20cm) complex ovarian cyst removed on Friday - I didn't even know it was in there, it was emergency surgery - and my CA125 was also raised (194). They did say that things other than cancer can raise this, such as inflammation or your period. So don't jump straight to the conclusion that you must have cancer. I'm still waiting for the results from the lab and it's nerve wracking stuff but just got to sit tight and try hard not to let your imagination get away with you. They can't know anything for sure until they actually biopsy it. It's entirely possible to have nasty cysts that aren't necessarily cancerous.

Sending you lots of love and positive vibes xx

  • Hi there,

Just wondering how you got on? I'm going through a similar thing. I hope you are very well. Any response would be massively appreciated. Thanks and take care x
