Left breast lump and pain

Hi

I decided to write here after finding it while searching my concerns on the net and I found the site so comforting and friendly....

I have been having left breast pain and burning for quiet a while. I have large breasts that are rather lumpy. However, I found a lump on my upper outer area of my left breast that felt bigger than my usual lumps and it is where my pain and burning feeling are. The pain also defers up into my armpit at times.

I went to my GP on Monday and he examined my breasts while lying down and said he couldn't feel any lumps and told me I have lumpy breasts anyway. I guided him to where I have felt it and he noted then that there was a slight difference to it than the other lumps and tissue. He decided to refer me to the breast clinic to help ease my concern but said he felt it was nothing to worry about and that he wasn't putting urgent on it as he felt it wasn't anything to be concerned about. I was happy enough that at least I'm being referred to check it out.

I have noticed that when I check my breast when leaning forward I have puckering to the side of my left breast but its only evident when I lean forward and I don't know whether this is normal for large breasts when you lean forward.

Anyway, it's amazing, it helps when you write down your concerns isn't it, I feel a slight comfort writing it here as I haven't informed any of my family about this as I don't want anyone to be unduly worried.

Thanks for reading,

X

  • Hi!

I am a 23 year old and I have pretty lumpy breasts too. When I found a lump that was different to the rest my doctor told me I had a cyst. Cysts are VERY common in breast no matter how big or small. My lump was quite firm yet could move around and caused a dull pain around my armpit. It obviously worrying though:(. I then found another lump which didn't feel like my usual cyst, so I went back for a second scan, to be told the milk ducts and surrounding tissue in lumpy breasts can swell and cause issues, can be due to hormones, stress, bra fittings etc. They re assured me that most of the time pain in breasts is nothing to worry about. Sorry I can't be much help but I hope it's something!

stay safe and I wish you good health x
