Breast referral- really panicing

Went to my go today as have had pain/tenderness in outer area of left breast. Noticed a sore lump in last couple of days. She referred me to breast clinic .  The breast pain has been going on about 10 -12 weeks. Alongside this I have had pain in my left shoulder/arm since last Nov.. I put this down to my posture and poor form when running as took it up around the same time. In early Dec I fell and hit head.. had concussion but didn't think injured anywhere else. Pain in shoulder became much worse after that.. had 6 sessions of physio beg Jan but no better & a shoulder X-ray which they said showed nothing. Fast forward to early March and pain starts in left breast.. now have a painful lump in outer breast area. Had mammogram approx 4 years ago for painful breast in sane area but they found nothing then. Really anxious now as think the arm and breast are all related and that I've left it too long.

At the breast clinic.. if they need to, do they do the biopsy on same day? Would I need someone to drive me home after it or would I be ok myself?

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health concerns and more recently that you've found a lump in your breast. It's natural to feel worried about what may be causing this lump and wondering if it is connected to your other symptoms.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. Should the Dr feel that a biopsy is necessary then many clinics are equipped to be able to do that the same day and most women feel fine to be able to drive afterwards. You can read more about the procedure here

If you think it might help to talk things through with one of our nurses then you're welcome to call them. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on at clinic.
    Best wishes,
