Painless lump right armpit

Hi,

I recently posted to say that I had found a lump in my right armpit which was painless. I have no other symptoms or lumps in my breasts.

I have since visited a GP who prescribed me a weeks worth of antibiotics. This unfortunately hasn't worked and the lump is still there. It is a 1cm pea sized lump and the GP was unsure on whether it was a cyst, boil or lymph node.

She referred me to another GP for a breast examination. I attended this appointment, no breast examination took place, however this GP re-examined the lump and advised I did not meet the criteria for an Urgent 2 week wait referral as I am only 20 years old. I had my bloods done last week and all can back normal no action.

He has now referred me for a non-urgent 2 week wait appointment as I do not fit the criteria.

As you can imagine I am absolutely terrified and I can't seem to occupy my mind on to something else. I'm trying to stay positive in the fact my bloods come back as normal and the referral is non urgent.

But I'm not sure whether I should be panicking or not?

Thank you in advance for any advice given x

  • Hi Chick,

I'm still waiting for my appointment and it's coming up to two weeks, they rang me to say that I've got to wait longer due to a back log. As horrible as it and worrying try not to think about it, I've been occupying my mind and the time has flew.

I've also spoke to them and they said that anyone who has a lump is referred under a 2 week wait as policy and procedure so try not to worry too much as you say it may just be glandular tissue. I've spoke to many people on here who advised that breast cancer of women our age is so very rare. Try not to worry to much, I'm always here to talk if you need too x
