Breast clinic appointment

Hiya not really sure this fits the catagory but I've been to breast clinic today, it was all very urgent. I have a lump, I was examined they agreed a lump was there I  then had ultrasound said everything looks fine and just keep an eye on it and off you go. So will the lump go? They never said what it was, it felt very rushed, I have questions still. Where do I go from here, is that it? No follow up mentioned. Is it a case of just go back to GP. Feel a bit lost but guessing should be greatful? Not sure how I feel actually. I'm guessing an ultrasound is enough? Thank you for reading.

  • Hello DrPepper36,

If you still have questions, and you haven't already done so, I'd suggest you contact your GP. It may or may not go down, but it's encouraging to know that everything looked fine at the clinic.

    I hope that helps,

  • Hi I've just read your post and wondered did you eventually get any further advice. I've just been to the Breast clinic ref by my GP with a lump and had a scan as my last mammogram was less than a year, so was told I couldn't have one until a year had lapsed. Your experience was the same as mine, I also felt rushed and wasn't seen by the consultant it was 2 nurses who told me they 'think' it's fatty tissue! I've now left it 3 weeks but the lump has got worse and my shoulder aches. I'm unsure what to do. I've also lost 14lb in 12 weeks which is great but I'm not sure how.

I wondered did you go back to your GP to get further clarification?  I'm not sure what to do next?
    thanks

  • Hiya, interesting you should ask that I've got a telephone consultation with my GP tomorrow. I had a particularly bad day last week, ongoing lower back pain and what I can only describe as a consciousness of my breast that I've never had before. It's not a pain or an ache just a sensation of pressure it's so hard to describe. So I booked this appointment. I'm going to speak to GP and see what they say. All I can say is trust your own instinct. Sorry you felt the same it's a horrible feeling isn't it.

  • Hi I hope you get it sorted I must admit I know what you mean with consciousness of the breast. It's as though you know your body is different somehow, every now and then I get a dragging ache or I'm moving my arm around as if to try and release the ache it's weird.

Im contacting my GP to see where I go from here as I'm I can forget about a lump on the basis of being told "we think it's fatty tissue". I agree go with instinct nobody knows your body better than you! Good luck tomorrow with the GP.

  • hi charlotte do u mind me askin how long u waited for your appiontment once referred from gp ...thanks hun

  • Hi yes my GP referred me and I was seen in 10 days so the process to be seen was quite quick x

  • Hello Dr Pepper

good job I trusted my instinct and got a second opinion from a consultant, I went private for a ultrasound and another mammogram me. I've been diagnosed with breast cancer IDC and in lymph's if I'd listened to my breast clinic that diagnosed "we think it's fatty tissue" I hate to think what would have happened!!

  • Always trust your instinct, glad you pushed for it, it doesn't bear thinking about if you hadnt, hope you are ok and have time to process the news ️ ️ I've been referred to gynae I will see what they say. It's not the breast clinic but even if I have to go round the houses at least I'm getting somewhere I think. I've had a rough couple of days so something needs to be done. Will be thinking of you Charlotte ️

  • Hi charlotte.

i hope you dont mind me asking. but how much did it cost and where did you go for your private ultrasound and mammogram please?  was it the mammogram that picked up it was cancer? or did they think it was sinister from the ultrasound? I have been waiting 7 months to be seen at breast clinic now. i was referred in  march. i went to gp with lunp and dimple in left breast. she also found a lump in my right that i couldnt feel. i have phoned several times over the months as i have had more changes in both breasts and the handful of times i have actually been able to get through i have been told that the consultant will contact me. still nothing. wondering if its better for me to go private. im 32 so i think theyve put me to the back because of my age

  • Hi, I would definitely call and ask for an appointment with your GP as it sounds like you need some

proper care and clarification! Call and as to see GP or at the very least have a phone consultation with her/him.
