Possible Lymphona

Hi I have multiple swollen lymph nodes, 1 in my left groin, 1 under my left rib on back which hurts a little when pressed in, 2 on my back of my hips, 1 on my back by my spine and a recent one on the left side of my neck. I can say the one on my neck is pea sized and the other a little bigger. I’m constantly tired, had a few nose bleeds last month, terrible indigestion, feeling flushed all the time, there’s times I feel sweaty and faint. I have a swollen left tonsil that’s been like that for ages. No infections. No temps but do feel flushed and face does go red multiple times a day for nothing. I also get a weird rash that comes and goes on my chest and right arm. I Am itchy. I Get breathless but only if i do things like walk up stairs. Obviously I rang my gp because they are not seeing anybody at this time she referred me to an ent (2 week wait) over the phone for the lump in my neck. It’s  been over 2 weeks I know it’s busy with this conoravirus so I rang them again today and spoke to another’s gp. This gp seems to think I’m googling and telling them all the symptoms from online which is actually my symptoms. Anyway i took myself to a&e yesterday evening because obviously I’m scared I have a 3 year old son. Anyway, get called in straight away by a doctor in a&e, tell him what’s going on his reply was “you’re thinking cancer” well of course I am.

He says “tidiness, depression”

He feels my neck. “That’s normal” that lump Is supposed to be there.” He goes on to show me pictures of neck lymph nodes. Even tho it’s never been raised before.

Me “ok, 1 I know was depression feels like I’m not depressed just extremely tired and lack of energy but can you feel the other lumps ”

he feels the other lumps, “yes they are swollen lymph nodes but normal, everybody gets them. Did your gp feel your neck before making a referral to An ent? Because there’s no need for one, i wouldn’t even go to the appointment. Everyone gets lumps and bumps in the body, it’s definitely not cancer. NExt time go to yyour gp for stuff like this we are accident and emergency”

at this time I wasn’t shocked, all he did was feel the lumps, no bloods, no nothing.

Anyway I got home feel so let down. Part of me wants to give up forcing somebody to take me seriously. 7 swollen lymph nodes aren’t normal are they? definitely no infections or been sick recently. Past bloods in February showed high red blood cells my gp said they will look into it but never.

  • Hi Tyler

I'm  new on here but decided to read the chat as hubby is towards the end of over 7 years life after being told 3 months so feeling I should share !

One year into his cancer I was diagnosed with lymphoma out of the blue & told "watch & wait"

This post is not for the story of what followed ( too long ) but to say to you

"only you know your own body"

Do not be bullied by medics, sorry to say this but it happens all the time.

Yes, people do sometimes imagine things & that is part & parcel of being human & has to be dealt with appropriately.

Persevere if you are worried about symptoms, keep a diary from now, log conversations with medics etc.

There are so many different lymphomas & lots of treatments.

    best wishes  x

  • Change your doctor.  I had bowel cancer 23 years ago and my GP tried everything under the sun except refering me to a specialist.

Eventually I asked to be refered privately and got the diagnosis in about 12 days!  Fortunately they caught it early and I was operated on and have been fine ever since.

You have a right to be refered and you should insist on it, it's your life thats at stake not the GP's.  It's not too expensive to have a private consultation and following that they will treat you on the NHS.

If your present GP wont refer you then change your GP!  Do it NOW!

  • Thank you I will, I think it’s because I’m 24 and obviously look at my past medical history and see depression and that’s when they fob me off.
