My son has a lump in his testicle, waiting for ultrasound

My 20 year old son has a tiny lump in his testicle, he also has some groin pain and a hard enlarged lymph node, he has experienced a heavy, dragging pain in his testicle.  GP referred him to a urologist who said it was most likely a cyst but did blood tests to check for tumour markers and requested and ultrasound which is on Wednesday. My son has said he is feeling much better apart from the lymph node, he thinks the testicle lump has gone down and he doesn’t want to waste NHS time by having a scan if he is feeling better...personally I think he’s being irresponsible with his health and he should have the scan. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi anyone with a lump is not wasting NHS time. This must be worrying but I wish you all the luck in the world please let us know how it goes.Hi anyone with a lump is not wasting NHS time. This must be worrying but I wish you all the luck in the world please let us know how it goes.

  • Hi

My son also had a lump in his testicle which turned out to be a cyst. I would urge your son to have the ultrasound, not that I think its cancer but because he and you will always be wondering what it is. So for everyone's peace of mind its best that he gets the ultrasound, takes 10 mins and painless - what's there to lose?
