Breast pain

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice or have had a similar pain and can help put my mind at rest of what it could be. I first had breast pain in November and went to the doctors with it. The pain was sharp pains in my breast. Tightness and a feeling of it being heavy and swollen, tender and sore. Extremely tender and very painful. I went to the doctors and they said it was nothing to worry about. They said it was likely to be a strained muscle which I thought was weird as I don’t do any heavy lifting or exercise to have pulled a muscle to that severity. They prescribed me some strong painkillers. (Naproxen) I took these every day for two weeks and eventually it felt like everything was back to normal. Then at the end of January the same thing happened again. I was having the awful sharp pains again to the point I wasn’t sleeping and it really was stopping me from going about my everyday life as sitting/ standing/ lying down/ lifting things and going out and about was painful. I saw a different doctor this time and they again didn’t find a lump and gave me the exact same answer as the other doctor and gave me some naproxen and sent me on my way. Almost laughing at the fact I thought cancer was painful and said that cancer is painless. I took the medication for the two weeks and was fine again. I then got the pain back again on the 30th of April. This time it’s worse than ever before. The pain is unbearable and I can’t sit down for more than 5 minutes as the pain is worse when sat down or lying down. It’s realky effecting everything I do. I’m not sleeping properly and I’ve convinced myself that I’ve got some breastcancer. This has caused me to loose my appetite and become severely depressed over it. I’m worrying myself sick and causing myself a lot of stress. I’m a key worker so I can’t be letting my mental health impact me. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to my health and I’ve managed to convince myself that I’m very poorly. I’m going back to the doctors ASAP as I need to get some sort of pain relief and to get to the bottom of it. If anyone has had similar symptoms before can they give me some advice. Or if anyone has any advice to what it could be that would be great, just so I can ease my mind before my doctors appointment. I’ve tried so many different types of pain relief and new bras but I don’t think the problem is going away anytime soon.

Sorry for the long rambly message, just extremely worried as it’s the 3rd time the pain has been here

  • Hi I found that phoning 111 was helpful when I had a lump in my mouth. They told me to phone the GP and ask for a three day appointment. You could tell 111 exactly what you posted here and see what they say about seeing your GP again. Hopefully you will get passed on to a clinician and when you speak to condition tell them exactly what you've told us.
