Sore large lump under arm

Hi everyone

i hope this finds you all well. I'm a single parent of two, with no family in the country. I'm terrified as I've found a thickening in my left armpit which is sore to touch. I haven't found any links in my breasts, but do have large fibrous breasts and occasionally get pain, and is sore at moment (on and off).  My mum died of breast cancer a long time ago and this family history has me terrified. I'm not sure that gp is still open during Coronavirus and I'm not sure I even have the courage to ring them for an appointment anywhere. I feel like I have no hope at all.

  • Hi Feemac,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. With things like this where there are concerns or bodily changes we'd usually advise people to speak to their GP. GP surgeries remain open, as does the NHS generally, so do give them a call. It may be that you have a phone appointment initially, and if required they may suggest a face-to-face appointment.

If you'd find it easier to speak to one of our nurses in the first instance, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 - although please note they won't be able to diagnose.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
