Had a radical nephrectomy 7 weeks ago. Was told I would have an appointment with urologist 30 April at hospital. Now told he will ring me at home instead. Has anyone had cancer diagnosis relayed via telephone please?

Hello Topsymum,
I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I can imagine it must have been really stressful to wait for this phone call and I hope that you managed to find out more yesterday.
Keeping everything crossed for you that everything is ok and that you feel a little better today.
Best wishes,

Hello,
just wondered how you got on & did you receive it via telephone?
Xx
Hi cabbagepatch11
seems so long ago now that I posed this question. Original diagnosis from looking at the scan was a 12 Cm growth on my left kidney plus enlarged left adrenal gland indicating spread. Immediately following operation he said I should prepare myself for a lengthy journey.
Got my phone call, very matter of fact attitude. The cancer was confined to the kidney. Adrenal gland was benign on biopsy and so were lymph glands that had been removed. No explanation on grading, prognosis, no congratulations on this. Will phone again 1 October.
Managed to speak to my GP at the beginning of June following right flank pain and back ache. He told me I have a kidney stone in my remaining right kidney. That was a surprise. Said the surgeon had been very pessimistic looking at my original scan but there was every reason to be optimistic following the biopsies. Having worried about what all this meant following my April phone call I mentioned it would have been nice had the Urologist told me this when he phoned. Quote ‘Oh consultants aren’t very good at communicating over the phone.’ They are going to need to learn how if this situation continues I think. GP referred me for an ‘urgent scan’ beginning of June.
Phone call yesterday to say my scan is booked for 30 September - hoorah! Got a letter today to say my telephone conversation booked for 1 October with Urology consultant had been cancelled due to Covid. (Is it infiltrating telephone signals now?). They will rearrange the consultation in due course.
Hopefully the scan might enlighten me as to what is happening to my body because I’m still clueless.
Sorry its a lengthy reply reply but nothing is ever straightforward these days. I still can’t decide if the news I received over the phone in April was good or bad. State of limbo at the moment.

Oh no, I hope you get some answers soon, so frustrating that they have cancelled the appointment.
