Hi there
I am currently waiting to hear back on tests that have been carried out and just wanted to see if anyone had been through anything similar.
I am a 23 yo male and Roughly 3 months ago I felt a swollen gland below my jaw on the right side, around which time I also had some soreness in my mouth/throat on the same side. I put the swollen gland down to an infection due the the sore throat. A month later I noticed this gland was still swollen so proceeded to visit my GP who booked me in for a blood test and referred me for a US( which was cancelled in the end due to covid). The blood test came back clear and ruled out glandular fever.
Since then I have noticed swellings in other parts of my body (armpits, lower abdomen, a second gland under my jaw) and I have been referred to haemotology by my gp.
The haematologist carried out blood tests and a chest x ray was also done due to a sharp pain I have felt in my back for around 6 weeks now, which came back clear. I have also had an ultrasound, the sonographer mentioned that the ones in my abdomen look more like lipomas, whilst the glands didn't look suspicious to him. It's been two weeks since the US now and today I received a call to say I have been referred for an MRI next week which is the part which has caught me off guard.
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms to what I am currently going through? And has anyone been referred for an MRI after bloods and US have already been done?
I think I have already mentally prepared myself for a worst case scenario as at the time of referral my go did mention lymphoma as a potential cause of the swelling, although the sonographers comment did put my mind at ease but the MRI referral has shaken it up again.
Aside from these swellings I am generally well, other than wheezing and some shortness of breath which I have associated with the mid back pain I have been experiencing. The shortness of breath and wheezing is at its worst either at night laying in bed or just after eating, so I believe this to be due to acid reflux (dr google).
sorry for the long post, just wanted to see if anyone can relate to my experience and share there own.
Ash
