Lumps in armpit

Hello,

I would like a bit of advice if possible!

For a few months, I have had various lumps come up in my armpits. Sometimes there is one and sometimes there is two in one armpit. They make the skin quite tender. I'm only 24 but can't help but panic that it could be something more serious.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! x

    Hi GGLouise,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about the lumps in your armpit. Lymph nodes can come up as a result of any infection, but they can also be associated with cancer. You are young, so I hope that your swelling is just a reaction to infection.

However, it is always just as well to get this checked out. Phone your GP on Monday morning and explain your symptoms. S/he will possibly refer you for further investigation.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

I hope that all turns out well for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for replying!
The only thing that concerns me that it's not an infection is because I haven't been poorly or had any kind of infection and it's been going on for months :(

I will definitely phone my drs tomorrow.

    thank you again!

  • Hi Georgia,

I also found a lump in my right armpit about 4/5 weeks ago. I called the doctors and was put on antibiotics to get rid of any infection that may have been there. The lump was painless at this point and felt hard and long, about the size of my finger tip. The antibiotics didn't change anything so my Dr then referred me to the breast clinic. I waited 10 days to hear and nothing, so I phoned and was told that because I'm under 25 they rejected my referral even though my dr found another small lump in my breast and I have family history of breast cancer. Me and my Dr weren't happy that they refused to see me so I now have an appointment on 6th May. It's become firmer and more "oblong" shape over time and I've recently just started to get a tender pain with it. I'm scared and can totally sympathise with you. I think because of our age we are often over looked but it is still a possibility that it could be cancer, super scary. I hope you get things sorted!! X

  • I have my fingers crossed for you! I really hope you get the results you want from your appointment ️

this is the problem with being under 25. It's still a possibility but it's like we can be brushed under the carpet.

    thank you for replying!
    good luck,

    Hi Georgia,

I hope that your GP is helpful today. Cancer is no respector of age, so it is always wise to rule it out.

    Kind regards,
