Advice

Hi I have recently found 2 lumps in my right breast below and to the right side of my nipple. I also have a scaley patch at the top of my boob. I am 21years of age. I Am leaking what seems to be "milk" out of my nipple, I had a child 2 years ago and did not breast feed so this is a bit new. The cancer gene is very prominent in my mothers side of the family. Iv been to the gp and have advised to wait 2 weeks to see if the lumps dissapear or they will refer me to a clinic to have tests run. Obviously with family history of breast cancer I am worried and paranoid about the whole situation. Would anyone be able to advise or just words of wisdom would be great. Thank you

  • Hi,

This forum is great for advice.

I had this when I first started out..the doctor prescribed antibiotics thinking I had mastitis and left me a week.

He then referred me to the breast clinic. I had all the scan and tests on a lump in the right side of my breath when I initially went to doctors with nipple pain...these test came back negative. Over christmas just gone I got the pain in my nipple back and only went to doctors with a chest infection but he referred me again.

This time they tested the nipple and it came back as dcis and cancer in the lower part of my right boob.

Awaiting a date for mastectomy in the next 2 weeks.

If you are really concerned I would go back to the doctors and ask him to refer you...you know your own body... I knew something was wrong x

You are really young...I'm classed as young and I'm nearly 40 obviously I dont know your family history x

I just wanted to reach out to you and tell you that you are not alone on this site xx

  • Thank you so much for this reply, I'm debating whether or not to ring gp back up as the lumps have already been there 2 weeks, surely if they haven't gone now then 2 weeks isn't much difference but I don't know, I think I'll leave it till next week and trying not to check as much so I don't get any more paranoid than I am already

  • Sounds like a good idea x try not to worry too much yourself...I know it's hard x

The breast clinics are brilliant and a real one stop shop everything done in one day x

Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on if you go to the top and follow this discussion I will get an email if you reply xx

  • Sorry did you find out the same day at the breast clinic that is was cancer or did you have to wait? I hope you best recovery from your mastectomy x

  • Hi,

No I went and was examined by a consultant, then sent for ultrasound and biopsies. Waited 2 weeks for the results. My negative ones come through the post but got a letter to attend clinic when I was diagnosed with dcis.

I then had to have mammogram and mri which came back inconclusive so waited another week for more ultrasounds and biopsies and a 2 week wait for results and consultant to decide on treatment.

All in all I was diagnosed on the 10th of february with dcis and hope to have mastectomy in the next 2 weeks so altogether about 3 months from start to finish x

  • Hi just wanted to see how you was getting on?

    Any luck with the doctors?

  • Hiya they are ringing me on Tuesday to refer me to breast clinic

  • Hi Jess how are you getting on at the moment? Have you been given an appointment?

Im 23 and in a similar situation. My right breast has always been quite lumpy round the nipple area, much more so than my left one. Last Monday I found a small pea sized lump under my right nipple. I can move it side to side but It seems like it's attached to tissue on the bottom. I'm absolutely terrified! I've got an appointment at the breast clinic next Thursday but I'm so anxious now. I've noticed an aching pain has started in my armpit yesterday too.

  • Waiting for a call either today or tomorrow from the clinic to get an appointment date if not i have to ring them to make one, lump still there I keep checking everyday...hope your appointment goes well x

  • Hope it goes well for you too - it's such a scary feeling xx
