Scared

Hi, thought this may be a good platform for some advice. Some background, I'm 29 years old and have suffered a miscarriage. When I had scans they found a mass on one of my ovaries that's about 8cm in all. They did a CA125 which came out at 90.  Four weeks later and it has been repeated and is now at 135. Ive had an urgent appointment made by my doctor and seeing a consultant on Tuesday but hell scared. Has anyone had anything similar and is there anything I should expect?

  • Welcome to the forum ChilliP although I'm sorry for the reason you're posting.

Hopefully you'll receive some advice and support from our members soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to wish you all the best for Tuesday and let you know we'll be thinking of you.

Do let us know how you get on when you can. We'll have our fingers crossed for good news.

  • Hi thanks for your reply. After a couple of appointments with the consultant I've been booked in for surgery on Wednesday to remove an ovary and fallopian tube for biopsy. I've got to have open surgery to remove it. Do you have any tips on recovery?

  • Hi there,

Just wondering how you got on? I'm going through a similar thing. I hope you are very well. Any response would be massively appreciated. Thanks and take care x

  • Hi, good ending to the story my end. I ended up hvaing surgery a week after I saw the consultant. They took out the whole tumour, ovary and fallopian tube along with a sample of my ometum and washings to make sure it hadnt gone further, I have a c-section type scar. I was very lucky as it turned out to be a borderline tumour, not cancerous and unlikely to come back, it just needs monitoring. It was stressful but thank god for the NHS! I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and it is going well. Im sorry youre going through something similar. It really isnt pleasant but my best advice is just to look after yourself and give yourself time to process what is going on. Keep up with appointments and trust in the people caring for you.

  • I'm so glad for you and thank you for replying.

Good luck with the pregnancy and take care x

i hope we all remain fit and healthy x
