Hello. I'm probably just being a typically concerned newbie (hopefully unnecessarily so) but here goes...
I'm 54 and have had many cervical smears done which led to one moderate result, colposcopy and loop diathermy approx 20 years ago.
I had my most resent test at the beginning of March and despite the corona virus delaying follow ups I recieved a phone call directly from a doctor at the hospital 4 weeks later, on a friday, telling me that I had a high-grade (severe) dyskaryosis result and they wanted me in the following Monday for a colposcopy and likely an immediate loop procedure. I was told during the loop excision that the area was 'thick' (whatever that means) and we could possibly have the biopsy results back in as little as 2 weeks and that it was important to chase it up after 6 if I hadn't heard back.
I was fine with the wait (It's only been 11days) but what now concerns me is the copied in clinic to GP letter that I recieved today which says in part: "She has been treated at her first visit and I will liaise with the results of the loop excision and plan for further management in due course"
Does it read as more than just having a repeat smear in 6 months time or am I being paranoid about the terminology? Thank you for any response.
